Calling all JCU kids! This summer, the Office of Alumni Relations is launching a new virtual program focused on the youngest members of the Blue Streak community. Children of JCU alumni, faculty, staff, and friends are invited to explore space, science, writing, and baking as part of JCU Jr., an online program developed to engage and enrich the mind of future Blue Streaks.

JCU Jr. online programs available the week of July 13 include:

          • “Exploring Space with a NASA Astronaut,” presented by Col. Carl Walz ‘79G, a veteran of four NASA space shuttle missions and one international space station expedition
          • “Manatees - Peaceful Giants of the Caribbean,” presented by Dr. Steve Herbert, John Carroll’s provost and academic vice president
          • “Baking for Kids,” presented by Chelsea McTigue ‘14, ‘16G
          • “Poetry for Kids,” presented by Dr. Phil Metres, an award-winning poet, professor in the Department of English, and director of the Peace, Justice, and Human Rights program
          • “Chemistry for Kids,” presented by Dr. Mark Waner ‘91, associate professor of Chemistry

There’s a special place in the hearts of our staff for children because most of us are parents ourselves. Delivering kid-friendly enrichment content to fellow parents not only helps our alumni, but introduces kids to John Carroll and our resources at a young age. That said, I think alums of any age will enjoy JCU Jr.

Registration opens in late June. For more, visit //www.mtimers.com/jcu-jr-program-kids.
